Omaha!!!! (Part I -The Picnic)

What a great weekend!!! It was our first road trip (not counting the trip we made home from Omaha, almost 7 months ago), with Luke!
It is so hard to believe that almost 7 months ago we made that trip to Omaha to meet our son for the first time. The weather was almost 80 degrees warmer than the last trip, and with less anxiety!!!
We went with a dual purpose. Each year our adoption agency holds annual picnics at their branch offices across the US. We went to the KC one last year after we were matched with Luke and waiting for him to come home.
When Luke was escorted to Omaha, NE our escorts invited us to attend the picnic this year with Luke. It was a great opportunity to reunite with them and the other family that received their little boy on the same day and same plane ride! It was cute to think of them sharing the plan trip from their mother land to the US and into their forever families!

We went with our friends "The Gray's" and their little boy who is just over one year older than Luke. It was so nice having a buddy for Luke and adults for us!
Luke did GREAT on the just over 3 hour car ride. We left about 3 O'clock in the afternoon and Luke slept for most of it. When he was not sleeping he was his normal happy self!
We got there on Friday about dinner time and ate some dinner at The California Pizza Kitchen. We decided to head to bed and get ready for the big day of the Holt Picnic and Zoo.
On Saturday morning we got up and ate some breakfast at the hotel and attempted to give Luke his medicine. We went for a swim with the Gray's and then headed off to the picnic. The Gray's went ahead and went to the zoo and we met up with them later.
It was very odd how emotional it was to see the other family and our escorts again. A lot of memories came back to me seeing them again and they brought some tears to my eyes!
They had some AMAZING Korean food at the picnic and lots of other adoptive families. It was a beautiful location for a picnic and everyone was so nice and friendly. I really wish we had more time, but we had to race back to the hotel to give Luke his medicine. I can not wait to go again next year.
I will post more later with pictures and tales of the zoo...

Our families! Almost 7 months later!
