Mother Nature

Saying the events of yesterday was "scary" was a little too dramatic.
However with what has happened south of us and the devastation that has taken place, we did need to take the threat seriously.

Yesterday Luke and I went to meet some friends at a new bouncy house play area.
We left a little later than planed (but kinda the story of our life).
When we were just a few minutes away our friends called us and said "umm, there is a tornado watch, I think were gonna stay home".
Since we were almost there, and "watches" happen all.the.time. we decided to go ahead and play for a while.

We get there and no more than 15 minutes later it was go time.
Tornadic activity was being reported just a mile south of us.
We get in the car and make like a tree and leave ASAP.

(its rather difficult to get your child to get the move on when they are having fun)

By the time we get home the sirens were going off all around us.
We have a storage space that we always said we would use as a tornado shelter if we needed to.
However, it was a little full.
So while Luke ate his lunch I did a quick cleaning out to make room for mommy, Luke and Maggie.

Lucky for us we did not have to go in it, as the tornado's were just forming in the sky, dropping down, and then going back up.

But we were ready.

And so was Luke.
He kept running around the house saying "Weeeeee!" while wearing my biking helmet!

Just a few hours later, Mother Nature showed us her other side!

  1. Glad you made it home safely! The weather has been crazy and I've learned you cannot take any chances even with just a tornado watch. Having experienced 100mph winds here, it was way too scary and no tornado. The damages from just the wind around here was horrible last year.

Hope summer is fun for you guys and a trip to Korea will soon be in the forecast!
